“Nature’s Whisper” by Joni Caggiano

Your whisper crawls sheepishly into
my ear, singing me to sleep
the heavenly creature with a cleansing heart
cries out, please, do not weep
velvet moss where you lay your head
feathers calm, a timid glance
wildflowers beguile potted flowers to pull
up roots, and dare to dance
apples fall indulgently red like painted lips
a doe and two fawns eat their fill
awakening, a bird flies upon her bare shoulder
